Our Aims

The aim of IrishEVs is to showcase the best possible electric cars on the market in Ireland in the context of climate change, and the role they can play for the country in lowering its emissions.

The website is wholly independent and is not affiliated with any manufacturers or advertisers, and is produced by someone who has worked in the industry for more than a decade – as such the site offers a completely unbiased perspective on making the switch to EV with the consumer and the environment always at the fore.

Overcoming disinformation

IrishEVs will prioritise the uninformed community in order to educate consumers about EVs in order to address the myths, misinformation and disinformation about electric vehicles. There is a particular distrust in Ireland around electric cars owing to the disinformation of former governments about the purchase of diesel vehicles on the promise of cheaper running costs and lower emissions.

Furthermore, IrishEVs will solely focus on battery electric vehicles – not hybrids. The latter are marketed as a sustainable solution, but this is not the reality and is highly misleading (see our EV Basics Guide for more).

Promoting sustainability

The website will also seek to highlight other issues of sustainability – from renewable energy to proactive opportunities for readers to reduce their carbon footprint and become more sustainable in their everyday lives.

The hope of IrishEVs is that readers will leave the site feeling better informed, with the resources to help them make better informed decisions about their impact on the environment – while also showing them that this need not be a compromise. In addition, we hope that this will become an interactive community over time and will aim to address questions from readers so that we might address common questions and concerns.
