Our Aims
The aim of IrishEVs is to showcase the best possible electric cars on the market in Ireland in the context of climate change, and how they can lower our emissions.
Why Ireland?
Find out more about why Ireland has great potential for electric car adoption, and how they can make a big contribution in cutting Ireland’s emissions.
EVs cost 74% less in running costs compared to a comparable diesel engine car in Ireland
Petrol & diesel cars convert just 17% of their fuel into power - with EVs this rises to 60% - so you’re doing a lot more with less
EVs do not emit any pollution, making a huge contribution to public health & fighting climate change
Unlike petrol & diesel cars, EVs can also be charged by renewable energy, and at considerably less cost. Even the emissions generated in their production will typically be offset after around 30,000km of running
Once an EV has driven more than 30,000 km, it will have offset the emissions used to create it
EVs are considerably more sustainable than any other form of road transport and don’t create any emissions once they are driving on our roads
Most EVs now have a range of 290 km or more
With the average car journey in the EU measuring just 3-5km, they have more than enough range to get you where you need to be, and with charging speeds falling all the time you’ll increasingly be able to drive further through software updates
EVs could save 500,000 lives in the EU each year
This is the number of early deaths resulting directly from road emissions each year - which can be completely overcome by driving zero-emissions vehicles
The aim of IrishEVs is to showcase the best possible electric cars on the market in Ireland in the context of climate change, and the role they can play for the country in lowering its emissions
